How can Philippines citizens get Vietnam tourist visa

Vietnam is a beautiful country with a rich culture and history, but sometimes its citizens may want to explore other countries and experience different cultures. One popular destination for Filipinos is Vietnam, known for its stunning landscapes, delicious cuisine, and friendly people. If you are a Philippine citizen planning to visit Vietnam in 2023, you will need to obtain a tourist visa before your trip.

Philippine citizens can obtain a Vietnam tourist visa in two ways:

Vietnam eVisa

The Vietnam eVisa is an electronic visa that allows Philippine citizens to enter Vietnam for tourism purposes for up to 90 days, single or multiple entry. To apply for a Vietnam eVisa, you will need to:

  1. GO on the official Vietnam eVisa website.
  1. Fill out the online visa application form. You will need to provide your personal information, passport details, and travel information.
  1. Upload a recent passport photo and a scan of your passport biodata page.
  1. Pay the eVisa application fee using a credit or debit card.
  1. Review your application and submit it.

Once you have submitted your application, you will receive a confirmation email. You can track the status of your application on the eVisa website. The processing time for Vietnam eVisas is typically 3-5 business days.

Vietnam Visa on Arrival (VOA)

The Vietnam Visa on Arrival (VOA) is a visa that can be obtained upon arrival at any international airport in Vietnam. To apply for a VOA, you will need to:

  1. Complete a visa application form at the VOA counter at the airport.
  1. Submit your passport and two passport-sized photos.
  1. Pay the VOA fee in cash.

The processing time for VOAs is typically 15-30 minutes.

Requirements for Vietnam tourist visas:

  • A valid Philippine passport that is valid for at least six months from your date of arrival in Vietnam.
  • A recent passport photo.
  • A valid email address.
  • A credit or debit card to pay the application fee (for eVisa applications only).
  • Evidence of health or travel insurance with COVID-19 cover for treatments in Vietnam. It should have a minimum cover threshold of USD 10,000.

Validity of Vietnam tourist visa

The validity of a Vietnam tourist visa in 2023 depends on the type of visa issued. As of November 5, 2023, there are two main types of Vietnam tourist visas:

  • E-visa: An electronic visa that can be obtained online and is valid for 30 days, single or multiple entries.
  • Stamped visa: A visa that is issued at a Vietnamese embassy or consulate and can be valid for 15, 30, or 90 days, single or multiple entries.

New policy

On August 15, 2023, a new policy was implemented that allows citizens of all countries to apply for an e-visa to Vietnam. This is a significant change, as previously, only citizens of certain countries were eligible for e-visas.

Validity of e-visas

E-visas are valid for 30 days from the date of entry into Vietnam. This means that you can stay in Vietnam for up to 30 days, starting from the day you arrive. You can also enter and exit Vietnam multiple times during the validity of your e-visa.

Validity of stamped visas

The validity of stamped visas varies depending on the type of visa issued. Single-entry visas are valid for one entry into Vietnam, while multiple-entry visas are valid for multiple entries. The duration of validity of stamped visas can be 15, 30, or 90 days.

Extension of visas

It is possible to extend your Vietnam tourist visa, but only once. To extend your visa, you must apply at least 7 days before the expiration date of your current visa. You can extend your visa for a maximum of 30 days.

Conclusion

The validity of a Vietnam tourist visa in 2023 depends on the type of visa issued. E-visas are valid for 30 days, single or multiple entries, while stamped visas can be valid for 15, 30, or 90 days, single or multiple entries. You can extend your Vietnam tourist visa once for a maximum of 30 days.
